Though Amman is relatively clean compared to other smog-infested Middle Eastern capitals like Cairo or Damascus, littering is still part of the daily routine. In a developing country like Jordan, environmentalism isn’t at the top of the agenda. There are, however, a few eco-lodges scattered around the country, and the government recently issued an “Amman Call for Eco-Cities," pledging to implement policies that would regulate carbon emissions and try to promote green living.
