Photo for Serbian monasteries: Cover up & watch out for construction

Scantily-clad tourists are warned not to enter places of worship in most parts of the world. Eastern Orthodox monks in Serbia have a few additional requests: beard, babushka, and neutral tones. Other things to be wary of: Old graves may not be well marked, so stay on the path as best you can. If you see a monk circling the monastery striking a piece of wood with a wooden hammer, be aware that he's not a carpenter on the move. It is a call to prayer for the monks and it may not be appropriate to enter the monastery at that time.
