Dresden presentation went very well

January 31, 2010 @ 6:01 AM | Permalink

I am meant to work with people. To teach, but not necessarily in a classroom. To make a difference in whatever way I can.

Last week, I went to Dresden to attend my M.A. graduation. In addition, my colleague and I gave a talk about "Terminologiearbeit im Europäischen Parlament". I had this idea back in October, when I started at the European Parliament and decided that I would like to work more with their external contacts project.

While the preparation was a lot of work, I feel like I made the information accessible and relevant for students of applied linguistics. They asked lots of great questions that I could answer with confidence. One student has already applied for a similar traineeship, and maybe others will follow suit.

So while Terminology is not my dream field, I could work my strengths into my tasks in a way such that everyone benefits.

I am feeling much more positive about things after the mission to Brussels, which was great. Hopefully I will be able to blog about this tomorrow...
