Great Greek Phrases

December 20, 2009 @ 1:54 PM | Permalink

Greek may not be an easy language, but it's certainly a colorful one. Here are three of my personal favorite Greek expressions.

Les trihes-  In context, this means "You're saying nonsense" or "That makes no sense," literally translated however, it means "you're speaking hair"

Vrehei karekles- It's raining chairs!  This is the Greek version of "It's raining cats and dogs."

Stou koufou tin porta oso theleis vroda- At the deaf man's door, go on knocking as long as you like. This means, basically, "I'm not listening to a word you say"
