Every Azerbaijani meal has a running theme: bread. Considered a sacred staple, bread shows up everywhere and with everything. Just be careful to treat your loaf right as the ultimate offense in Az is bad bread behavior. This means, don't use a knife to cut warm bread (tear it instead), never drop bread on the floor or throw it across a room (if you do, pick it up, dust if off, and place it somewhere high), and never finish your friend's uneaten piece.
