The Correspondents Program: Specialized Positions

Glimpse/HTH Worldwide Health Correspondent

In addition to the general Correspondents Program, we are also offering a specialized position in spring 2010: the Glimpse/HTH Worldwide Health Correspondent. This position is open to anyone who is eligible for the general Correspondents Program, but who is also working or volunteering in a health-related field.

As part of the program you will:

  • Produce one feature-length story (1,000 words) on a health-related topic
  • Create a slideshow of your best photos
  • Keep a blog about life in your host country
  • Submit tips about health and culture abroad
  • Work with Glimpse.org's professional editorial staff
  • Get paid a stipend of $600

Glimpse and HTH Worldwide, sponsor of healthytravelblog.com and the leader in health plans and services for study abroad programs, are offering this opportunity to students, aspiring journalists, or anyone interested in global healthcare issues. To be eligible for the program, you must be between the ages of 18 and 34 and working abroad in a health-related field for at least 10 weeks between Jan. 1 and June 30, 2010. A few examples of health-related fields include (but are not limited to):

  • AIDS/HIV awareness and prevention
  • H1N1 care and education
  • Other infectious diseases, vaccination and prevention
  • Behavioral health services
  • Nutrition and hygiene education
  • Clean water access
  • Community health center administration
  • Maternal and women’s health services
  • Child care and development
  • Care and support for orphaned children
