The Correspondents Program: Requirements

Eligibility Requirements
- To qualify for the Correspondents Program, you must be living abroad for at least 10 weeks during the spring or fall
- Must be between the ages of 18 and 34
- Must have regular access to email while abroad, and be willing to commit to a professional editorial process
- The Correspondents Program is open to both U.S. and non-U.S. citizens
Application Requirements
- Basic personal information
- Education, work, internship, and volunteer experience
- Details of your upcoming abroad experience
- Statement of interest
- Writing sample (creative nonfiction or fiction)
- Link to an online photo album
- Contact information for two references (letters of reference are NOT required)
- A processing fee

Work Requirements
- Feature story: One feature story (photo or written), which includes a first-person element and focuses on a human or cross-cultural theme. see an example
- Assignment: A step-by-step “how-to” guide on a local ritual or custom. see an example
- Insider tips: Bits of advice about life and culture in your host country. see an example
- Slideshow: Twenty of your best photographs (not submitted in conjunction with a story). see an example
- Blog: A blog on Glimpse.org, updated weekly. see an example
