Term

The “Best Shot” Photo Contest (“Contest”) begins September 16, 2009  at 9:00am Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) and ends December 15, 2009 at 11:59pm EDT.  All entries must be received by December 15, 2009 at 11:59pm EDT.

Who May Enter

Contest is open only to legal residents of the United States (excluding Puerto Rico) who are age eighteen (18) or older at the time of entry. Employees of Glimpse, Inc. and their parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, agents, and advertising and promotional agencies and their immediate families or members of the same household are not eligible. CONTEST IS VOID IN PUERTO RICO AND WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW.

How To Enter

• To submit your entry, visit http://www.glimpse.org/contests/submit and follow the step-by-step directions on that page.
• Photograph submissions must be in JPEG (.jpg or .jpeg) digital format, at least 1,600 pixels wide if a horizontal image or 1,600 pixels tall if a vertical image, and no greater than 2 megabytes (2048 kilobytes) in file size. Please provide only the original, unmodified digital camera image; however, you may crop the image.
• We will accept submissions beginning on September 16, 2009. All entries must be received by December 15, 2009 at 11:59pm EDT. Entries become property of Sponsors and will not be returned or acknowledged.
• Submit an original photograph, taken by you, of someone you know exploring another country. Your photograph must comply with the following requirements (the “Photograph Requirements”):

• The use of public domain images is prohibited.
• The photo, in its entirety, must be a single work of original material taken by the contest entrant. By entering the Contest, entrant represents, acknowledges, and warrants that the submitted photograph is an original work created solely by the entrant and that no other party has any right, title, claim, or interest in the photograph.
• Obscene, provocative, or otherwise objectionable content will not be considered, and such determination is solely at the discretion of Sponsors.
• LIMIT THREE ENTRIES PER PERSON.
• The photograph will be judged in accordance with the Judging Criteria, as defined below.

Contest Prizes

THE POTENTIAL WINNERS ARE REQUIRED TO SIGN THE FOLLOWING: (1) AN AFFIDAVIT OF ELIGIBILITY AND LIABILITY RELEASE; (2) WARRANTY OF OWNERSHIP AND LICENSE; AND (3) PUBLICITY RELEASE, UNLESS PROHIBITED BY LAW, WITHIN 15 DAYS FROM THE DATE OF NOTICE IN ORDER FOR SPONSORS TO AWARD THE PRIZE. NONCOMPLIANCE OR RETURN OF PRIZE NOTIFICATION AS UNDELIVERABLE MAY RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION AND SELECTION OF AN ALTERNATE WINNER.

Sponsors will award the following prize:

• One (1) Grand Prize Winner will be selected. The Grand Prize consists of a $500 travel voucher.
• Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.

Judging

• Contest consists of two (2) rounds of evaluation. The judges will use the same Judging Criteria in each round. The top candidates in Round One will proceed to Round Two.
• A panel of Glimpse and National Geographic photo editors (“Judges”) will evaluate the entries based on the following criteria (“Judging Criteria”):
  • Composition (25%);
  • Clarity and technical quality (25%); and
  • Story behind the photo, as relayed in the caption (25%)

• Winner and runners-up will be chosen in January and notified by email before January 31, 2010.
• Decisions of the Judges are final.

License

Selected entries may be published by Sponsors on the Sponsors' website, or in any other medium, at Sponsors' discretion. By participating, all entrants grant an irrevocable license in the Entries to Sponsors and acknowledge that the Sponsors may edit, modify, reproduce, publish, distribute, or otherwise use the Entries and all elements of such Entries, including, without limitation, the names and likenesses of any persons or locations embodied therein, in any media now or hereafter known, without the restriction, including commercially using and exploiting the Entries to fullest extent possible in perpetuity, without additional consideration, notification, permission to entrant or any third party, unless prohibited by law. Additionally, by participating, each entrant grants to Sponsors the unrestricted right to use all statements made in connection with the Contest, and pictures or likeness of Contest participants, or choose not to do so, at its sole discretion, with no additional consideration, notification, or approval except where prohibited by law.

Limitation of Liability

By participating, participants agree to release, discharge, and hold harmless Glimpse, Inc. and its partners, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising agencies, agents, and their employees, officers, directors, and representatives from any claims, losses, and damages arising out of their participation in this Contest or any Contest-related activities and the acceptance and use, misuse, or possession of any prize awarded hereunder.

Conditions

THIS CONTEST IS VOID WHERE PROHIBITED. This Contest is subject to federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Certain restrictions may apply. Entries void if the Sponsors determines the photograph to not be an original, or if the entries are illegible, incomplete, damaged, irregular, altered, counterfeit, produced in error or obtained through fraud or theft.

Participants also agree (a) to be bound by these Official Rules; and (b) that the decisions of the Judges are final on all matters relating to the Contest. All federal, state and local taxes, fees and surcharges on prizes are the sole responsibility of the prize winners. In the event that the selected winner(s) of any prize are/is ineligible or refuses the prize, the prize will be forfeited and Sponsors, in their sole discretion, may choose whether to award the prize to another winner.

The winner and runners-up will be announced on Glimpse.org after a final decision has been reached by the judges.
